Germany drubs Pakistan

AMSTERDAM, JUNE 27. It was virtually a goal-rush as formidable Germany hammered a lacklustre Pakistan 6-0 in the opening match of the four-nation Rabobank hockey championship 2004 here on Saturday. Mathias Witthaus opened the account in the 11th minute with a brilliant reverse flick.

The second goal came from Bjoran Michel in the 25th minute and he scored again to take Germany into half time with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, penalty-corner specialist Florian Kunz scored in the 50th and 56th minutes, and Christoph Bechmann completed the humiliation scoring with a powerful shot from the right, beating the entire Pakistan defence. — UNI
