Rain likely

Forecast: Partly cloudy sky with a spell of rain. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 32.6 deg. C and the minimum was 28.0 deg. C respectively on Sunday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 71 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 80 per cent.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 36.2 deg. C and 29.0 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 61 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 60 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 32.0 deg. C and 25.4 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 71 per cent.

IOB gesture

The Visakhapatnam Region of the Indian Overseas Bank, as part of its community development programme (CDP), donated rice, clothes, notebooks, sweets and pens to the inmates of orphanages in Prema Samajam at Dabagardens. The entire collection was by way of donations from the IOB staff. The senior Regional Manager of IOB, A. J. Prasad, and other staff members participated in the programme. Mr. Prasad said similar social welfare programmes for the poor and the needy would be conducted on a regular basis.

Distribution of

books, pencils

The Vizagapatam Cloth Merchants Association will continue to distribute free books and pencils to school-going children of employees working in the shops of its members, according to the president of the association, Kankatala Mallik.

Efforts are on to serve and help the needy in the textile trade, Mr. Mallik said.

Rotary Club donation

Rotary Club Visakha Port City has donated 50 sets of desks to the Mandal Parishad Elementary School in Goapalapatnam. The desks were handed over jointly by the district governor, D.V. Raju and the District Education Officer, R. Surendra Reddy, in the presence of several Rotarians led by the president of the Rotary Club Visakha Port City, Kamal Baid.
