The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday was 36 and 26 degree Celsius, while Palam recorded 37.2 and 26.2 degree Celsius respectively. The maximum humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 81 cent, while the minimum was 41 and 40 per cent, respectively.
Woman arrested
According to the police, they received a call from a businessman alleging that a woman was threatening to lodge a false case of rape against him if he did not give her the money she demanded. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the woman, who was identified as Noor Jahan. Investigations revealed that she had recently extracted money from a Hazrat Nizamuddin hotel owner using the same modus operandi. Further probe into her other involvements are on.
Robbers held
On June 16, the police received a call from one Tejpal Anand, a businessman dealing in silver and saffron foils, alleging that some persons robbed him of Rs. 2.40 lakhs, saffron foil, around five kg of silver, a gold chain, a gold ring and a mobile phone. The miscreants entered Tejpal's shop at Lahori Gate, beat up his three domestic helps and tied their limbs with cords, after which they fled away with the valuables kept in an almirah. Investigations revealed that Shahid and his accomplices, Irshad, Zuber, Nasir and Yusuf, were involved in the robbery. Subsequently, the police carried out raids and arrested three of them - Irshad, Zuber and Shahid, and recovered a part of the stolen property from their possession. Meanwhile, Yusuf surrendered in a Moradabad court. Further probe is on.
Burglars nabbed
The accused disclosed that they had classified the timing of their operation in three parts - A, B and C. Under the A scheme, they would target houses during 11 p.m. to 12-30 p.m., which was considered to be the most risky operation; while under the B scheme, they committed burglary during 1a.m. to 2-30 a.m. They disclosed that under the C scheme, they targeted houses between 4 a.m. and 5-30 a.m. A hunt has been launched for their other accomplices.
