Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Centre's move to replace Governors appointed during the NDA regime is objectionable for more than one reason. The NDA Government did not disturb the Governors appointed by its predecessors. According to the Sarkaria Commission recommendations, the States concerned should be consulted while appointing a Governor. If Governors are changed every time the Government at the Centre changes, it would mean that they function at the pleasure of the ruling party, not the President. This will lower the status and dignity of the office of the Governor.
