BANGALORE, JUNE 28. Krishnakanth of Infosys claimed the individual honours, winning the Open Rapid chess tournament for Corporates, conducted by Ventures, at the State Youth Centre here on Sunday. Infosys, with 13 points, won the team honours edging out Sonata Software. Last year's champion Hewlett Packard finished third with 12 points. Krishnakanth (five points) was tied with four others, but emerged triumphant on better progressive score. R. Bhasker (Texas Instruments) finished second best (PS-19). Texas Instrument (11.5 points) was declared the most promising team while Bhasker of HP won the most promising player award.
Team championship: 1. Infosys (13 pts), 2. Sonata Software (12.5 pts), 3. Hewlett Packard (12 pts). Open events: 1. Krishnakanth (5 pts, PS-20), 2. R. Bhasker (5, PS-19), 3. Sydney Lewis (Igate, 5, PS-18), 4. Nagesh (CR2, 5, PS-18), 5. Bhasker (HP, 5, PS-17).
Board prizes: Top board: Sydney Lewis and R. Bhasker 4.5 pts each. Second board: Nagesh and Karthik - 4 pts each. Third board: B.G. Srinivas (Sonata) 5. Fourth board: Ramanath Kini (Healthscribe) 5.
