PONDICHERRY, JUNE 28. The Pondicherry Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, who is also in charge of the Finance portfolio, will present the budget for 2004-05 in the Assembly at 10 a.m. on July 7. An official communication today said the budget session would begin on July 5. As it is the first full-fledged session of the current financial year, a formal address by Lt Governor to the House was also scheduled. The party-wise break up in the 30-member Assembly is Congress (16), Independents supporting the government from outside (two), TMC supporting the government (one), the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (seven) the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (two) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (one). M.D.R. Ramachandran is the Speaker. The House used to have three nominated members in addition to the elected legislators. But the present government had not made use of the statutory provision.
