Private airport planned at Aranmula

PATHANAMTHITTA, JUNE 28. The State's first private airport is likely to come up at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district in two years. According to the Mount Zion Trust chairman, Abraham Kalamannil, the trust had already acquired 125 acres in the Aranmula and Mallappuzhasserry grama panchayats for the proposed project, which included an aircraft maintenance engineering college, a flying club and an air-taxi service.

The representative of the Union Ministry for Civil Aviation in Kerala, R. Bhatnagar, had already inspected the site for the airport and had given permission, Mr. Kalamannil, told reporters at Kozhencherry near here today.
