HYDERABAD, JUNE 28. The State Government which has taken a serious view of the prevalence of viral fever in some mandals of Visakhapatnam agency areas will depute a senior Health and Medical Department officer to assess the situation, the Minister for Finance and Legislative Affairs, K. Rosaiah, told the Assembly on Monday. He was responding to the gravity of the situation arising from the incidence of viral fever, raised during zero hour by Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu (TDP), Raja Rao (BSP) and Demudu (CPI). Mr. Patrudu, a former Telugu Desam Minister hailing from Visakhapatnam, raised the issue showing a Telugu daily and charged the Government with negligence although incidence of vital fever was a regular feature during May and June. He said as many as 1,415 Girijan families were affected. The TDP member wanted either a Minister representing Visakhapatnam or his colleague from the adjoining district visit the affected areas. Mr. Raja Rao too charged the Government with neglecting tribal families in the agency areas on whom either medicine or treatment was ineffective. He wanted the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to convene a meeting of the tribal legislators to discuss the issue and tackle it effectively.
