HYDERABAD, JUNE 28. The Cabinet Sub-Committee on the Krishna Pushkarams, comprising Ministers of Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj, Major Irrigation, R&B and Endowments, will visit Vijayawada on July 10. It would study reports from MPs, MLAs and others, the Endowments Minister, M. Satyanarayana Rao, told the Assembly on Monday during question time. Mr. Satyanarayana Rao denied the contention of D. Umamaheswara Rao (TDP) that the Government was not paying due attention to the pushkarams and had cut funds. The Government would accord importance to the once-in-12-year event, he said.
Power dues
The Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, informed A.Vivekananda Reddy (Congress) that Rs. 9.01 crores to the AP Central Power Distribution Company Ltd and Rs. 1.52 crores to the AP NPDCL were due from various municipalities towards streetlights and drinking water charges.
Krishnapatnam land issue
Mr. Rosaiah said the necessary steps would be taken to see that the title dispute over land allotted to AP Genco for a thermal power station at Krishnapatnam was settled in court expeditiously.
Mr. Rosaiah told Mr. Vivekananda Reddy and others that court had kept the payment of compensation to landowners on hold, till the title dispute was settled by it.
He did not respond to Mr. Vivekananda Reddy's allegation that landowners were being asked to furnish 50-year revenue record.
The Minister admitted that there was a delay of three years in providing equipment/furniture in six hospitals in Cuddapah district that have been brought under the control of the AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad.
Stadium at Podalakuru
The Cooperation Minister, Kanna Lakshminarayana, told A. Ramanarayana Reddy (Congress) that the Government would take up construction of a modern stadium in Podalakuru (Nellore district) after receiving Central approval, as the cost was being shared.
Panchayat raj roads
The Government would explore alternative means of funding the completion of six Panchayat Raj roads in Vizianagaram district in view of the NABARD stopping assistance to such works, said J. Ramamohana Rao, Minister for R&B.
