Uttaranchal
By Our Staff Reporter
DEHRA DUN, JUNE 28. All Ministers of Uttaranchal, except the Minister of State for Industrial Development, Kishore Upadhyay, resigned today to pave the way for a smooth downsizing and restructuring of the Cabinet as required under the recent Constitutional amendment. The Ministers handed over their resignations to the Chief Minister, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, at a Cabinet meeting. Mr. Upadhyay said he had not been asked to resign so far. The strength of the Uttaranchal Cabinet, with 17 Ministers, has to be brought down to 12 before July 6. The Ministers have impressed upon the Congress high command that the criteria for retaining or sacking them must not be the poor show in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
