LUCKNOW, JUNE 28 . Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) today reiterated its demand for the creation of smaller States within Uttar Pradesh for its all-round development. The RLD president, Ajit Singh, told media persons here that the party in a meeting resolved to demand for creation of at least three States - Eastern U.P., Middle U.P. and Western U.P., for its just and equal development. The party also favoured the setting up of a commission by the Centre for the purpose of reorganisation of the State. The findings of the committee would be binding for the party, he said. Meanwhile, the RLD has set up a committee at the party-level to pursue the demands for the creation of the small States, he said. ``The demand for smaller States is also in the Congress manifesto,'' Mr Singh said adding that, however, the ruling Samajwadi Party in the State was not in favour of ``further division'' of Uttar Pradesh. The RLD chief alleged that the communal tension had increased in the State after the change of the government, therefore his party would demand setting up of a commission to go into the details of the issue and suggest ways and means to control such a situation. He also denied the reports of his joining the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, stating that ``there was no truth at all in such reports''. UNI
