NEW DELHI, JUNE 28. A gang allegedly involved in posing as police officers to extort money from passengers coming to the Capital has been busted by the North Delhi police. Three persons have been arrested. A police team had spotted one Ved Prakash, a resident of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, raising an alarm and chasing three persons at the Inter-State Bus Terminus on June 25. The team chased the trio and apprehended them. They also recovered Rs. 1,200 from the trio. It came to light that the trio - identified as Ramesh Kumar, Kishan Lal and Rajender - had accosted Ved, who was going to his native place. They told him that were police officials conducting security checks in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations. In the process, they took out Rs. 1,200 from Ved's bag. However, Ved realised that they were trying to rush through the "process" and felt uneasy when they saw a policeman coming towards them. He then raised an alarm. It is learnt that the trio had been involved in several cases of cheating.
