HYDERABAD, JUNE 28. Students of Osmania University went on a hunger strike today demanding the suspension of police officials involved in the lathicharge against them. They also sought the recall of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, who they alleged were responsible for irregularities in the functioning of messes. Leaders of various political parties visited the camp and expressed solidarity with the agitating students. The Secunderabad MP, Anjan Kumar Yadav and the CPI MLA, G. Demudu and said they would convey the students' message to the Government. The Minister for Technical Education, Nayani Narsimha Reddy, also visited the campus and promised to take up the issue with the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, in a statement, the University said steps were being taken to resolve the issues raised by the students. The Registrar said senior teachers met the agitating students.
