Praveen triumphs

HYDERABAD, JUNE 29. A. Praveen Kumar scored five points in five rounds to emerge the winner in the Open category of the 26th Sunday chess championship, conducted by the Chess Academy of Andhra Pradesh, at Vijay Public school here on Sunday.

Important results (fifth round): A. Praveen Kumar (5) bt J. Sai Kian (3.5); Ch. Sri Ram (4.5) bt G. Rahul (3); B.S.V. Ramana (4) bt Y. Sai Akshay (3); D.N.B. Vikyath (4) bt Sai Shankar (3); N. Sukruth (4) bt K.Yamini (3).

Age group prize winners:

Boys: Under-7: Amogh Varsha; Under-9: N. Sukruth; Under-11: J. Sai Kiran; Under-13: Ch.Y. Sriram; Under-20: P.S. Sanath Kumar.
