Shankara Rao scalps eight

VISAKHAPATNAM, JUNE 29. The young Ranji left-arm spinner, G. Shankara Rao claimed eight wickets for Irwin's Boatyard but the team lost to Vizag Colts by 13 runs when rain forced the abandonment of the VDCA first division clubs league match on Sunday.

Bapiraju claimed five wickets for Majestic C.C. but Victoria won by 60 runs in another match.

Vizag Colts 193 in 47.2 overs (S. Ranga Rao 63, K. Kumaraswamy 39; G. Shankara Rao eight for 62) bt Irwin's Boatyard 142 for seven in 37.3 overs (K. Nagagangadhar 32, K. Gangadhar 29, G. Shankar Rao 27; Md. Waziruddin three for 30). (Play abandoned due to rain, IBY's revised target 155 by Duckworth-Lewis method).

Victoria C.C. 164 in 46.5 overs (D. R. Srinivas 43, P. Adinarayana 33; Bapiraju five for 30, Madhu Veeresh three 25) bt Majestic C.C. 104 in 33 overs (M. Krishna Murthy 39, T. K. Ayyappaswamy three for 20, Harikrishna three for 21).

Royal C.C. 174 in 46 overs (P. Trinadh 51; B. Simhachalam four for 51) lost to Gajuwaka Greens 178 for six in 43 overs (R. L. V. Prasad 37).

Sports XI 81 in 28.5 overs (Y. Lakshman Kishore four for nine, Jay Kumar three for 15) lost to Metro C.C. 82 for one in 10.5 overs (Chandrasekhar 43, H. Vatekar 30 n.o.).
