`Why are kumbhabishekams postponed?'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JUNE 29. The Hindu Munnani wanted the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department (HR and CE) to make public the reasons for postponing kumbhabishekams in some temples.

In a statement, its president, Rama Gopalan, said the HR and CE department's decision had hurt the feelings of the devotees. Such an announcement would only bring a bad name to the Government, he said and urged the Chief Minister to intervene and order kumbhabishekams on the announced dates.

The HR and CE officials, when contacted, were not ready to spell out the actual reason for the postponement.
