The Collector, D. Vivekanandan, enquiring with a resident of Yesanai who had applied for ration card, in Perambalur on Wednesday.
PERAMBALUR, JUNE 30. The Collector, D. Vivekanandan, today enquired with the villagers of Yesanai, who had submitted applications for new ration cards. Accompanied by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Natarajan, and the District Supply Officer, Ganesan, he visited various houses in the villages and verified the details given in the applications. Later, in a statement issued here today, he said a total of 51,679 applications were received in the district for new cards from June 1 to 27. While a maximum of 14,663 applications were received from Udayarpalayam taluk, 11,578 applications were received from Ariyalur taluk, 9,586 from Kunnam taluk, 7,857 from Veppanthattai taluk, 5,186 from Perambalur taluk and 2,809 from Senthurai taluk. In the first phase, scrutiny of 20,623 applications received till June 14, commenced and eligible applications were forwarded to the Government and scrutiny of applications received from June 15 to 30 would be taken soon and eligible cases would be referred by July 15.
