CUDDAPAH, JUNE 30. Forest officials busted an international red sanders smuggling gang by arresting nine persons last night and seizing 65 red sanders logs worth Rs. 2 lakhs from the Kodur forest beat. The gang leader, Moola Narsaiah, and eight other arrested persons were produced in a court in Rajampet on Wednesday, according to forest officials. Those arrested included Arunachalam, Mahendra and three traders of Chennai and four persons of Gadela village in Kodur mandal. Four other accused were said to be at large. On getting a tip-off that red sanders was being smuggled abroad, the Rajampet Divisional Forest Officer, Sunder, and the Kodur Sub-Divisional Forest Officer, Kondala Rao, formed vigilance teams. The red sanders longs were being sent to Chennai under fruits and vegetables.
