Council approves sewer scheme

COIMBATORE, JUNE 30 . The Coimbatore Corporation today approved the underground drainage scheme that is to be implemented in zones four, five and six of the city. In fact, what the Council ratified at its meeting this morning is the revised scheme - the cost has been reduced to Rs. 168 crores.

The Opposition earlier rejected the uniform monthly service charge of Rs. 70 and demanded that the earlier rates, worked out with cross-subsidisation to make it affordable for lower income groups, be restored.
