Hudco list published

KOCHI, JUNE 30. The Hudco has published the list of people in Vazhakkala, Edapally South, Trikkakkara North and Aluva West, who are eligible for the rehabilitation package for having surrendered land for the water supply scheme. The list can be viewed at the office of the Special Tahsildar (Land Acquisition) and in village offices. Complaints, if any, about the list must be sent to the Special Tahsildar, Collectorate, before July 7.

Python set free

A six-feet-long python, which was found near a forest area at Thutiyoor, Kakkanad, this morning was brought under control by the local people. The police team which arrived at the spot took control of the python and handed it over to the forest personnel, for being released in the Kodanad sanctuary.

Admission

The provisional list of those who are eligible to be admitted to the polytechnics is available at the District Information Office, says a press release issued here today.

CITU dharna

Activists of the CITU took out marches and held dharnas in nine centres in the district, demanding a solution to the crisis facing the traditional and unorganised sectors. The march was taken out to the Collectorate at Kakkanad and to the Mini Civil Station at Thripunithura.

Demand

The Nationalist Students' Congress has demanded action against the Vice-Chancellor of M.G. University, who reportedly gave sanction to start a theology course at the university. The university had reportedly given sanction to the Believers Church of India Trust to start a Bachelor of Divinity course.

Protest day

The BSNL employees, under the banner of BSNL Employees' Union, observed Wednesday as `Protect-public sector Day'. They wore black badges in the offices.

Office-bearers

Peter John was elected president and K.D. Varghese secretary of the Rotary Club of Cochin Global. The other office-bearers are: Thomson Thomas (vice-president), Sasi J. Alex (president-elect) and K.K. Joseph (treasurer).
