Abducted boy rescued

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, JUNE 30. A three-year-old son of a contractor, who had gone missing from Samaipur Badli in North-West Delhi on Tuesday, has been rescued by the North-West Delhi police. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.

According to the police, Bade Babu, a contractor living at Suraj Park in Samaipur Badli, informed the police on Tuesday evening that his three-year-old son, Roshan, had gone missing since afternoon. He told the police that Roshan, along with his brother, Ravi (7), and sister, Neetu (5), had gone to take tuitions at the house of a lady teacher. Around 8 p.m., Bade Babu informed the police that he had got a ransom call in which the caller had demanded Rs. 5 lakhs for the safe return of his son. The police got a caller line identification set installed in the office of Anjali Plastics, owned by Bade Babu, where the call had been made. Around 10 p.m., the kidnapper called up on the same number again. The number was traced to Gurgaon.

A team was sent to Gurgaon which traced the number to a public phone booth on Patoudi Road.

The team zeroed-in on the phone booth and kept a watch. Around 7 a.m. today, a young man came to the booth and called up on the same number. Following confirmation from the other side, the waiting police team nabbed the young man, identified as Mukesh Kumar, a Gurgaon resident.

At his instance, Roshan was rescued from the house of Mukesh's brother, Santosh, also a Gurgaon resident. Mukesh also revealed the name of his accomplice, Manohar, who was subsequently arrested.

It came to light that Mukesh told Manohar, whom he knew, that he was unemployed and needed money. Manohar, who used to work in the company of Bade Babu, told him that they could extort a huge ransom if they kidnap his son.
