IMPHAL, JULY 1. A CRPF jawan was killed and two others were injured in an attack by armed insurgents on a patrol party at Leiram Veng area of Manipur's Churachandpur district today. The incident occurred when insurgents attacked the foot patrol party of the 14th battalion of the CRPF from different directions at 9.20 a.m., police said. The CRPF jawans retaliated and the exchange of fire between the two sides lasted for 30 minutes in which a jawan was killed and two others were seriously injured, they said. The insurgents escaped to the nearby jungles and hills and a combing operation was on. Meanwhile, police found two bullet-riddled bodies from Khongsatabi village area of Manipur's Thoubal district today. PTI
