BOC opens ISP Plant
BANGALORE: In line with its strategy to push business in the industrial and special products (ISP) segment in India, BOC India, a subsidiary of BOC Group Plc, on Thursday opened a new plant in the Peenya industrial area here.
Sanjiv Lamba, Managing Director of BOC India, told The Hindu that the new plant was set up at a cost of Rs. 10 crores. "To begin with we will make medical oxygen and argoshield, a speciality shielding gas used in industrial welding at this plant," Mr. Lamba said.
The plant can produce six million cubic metres of gas a year, if run in three shifts, he said. "Currently we are running single shifts." The plant has two facilities, one for medical and the other for industrial gases. In addition to the two products it is now making, it can produce industrial oxygen, nitrogen and argon.
