NEW DELHI, JULY 1. The second cut-off list for admission to Delhi University released here yesterday night brought mixed news: closure of admission to certain coveted courses, but some reason for cheer as well. While some colleges have closed admission to courses like B.Com (Honours) and B.Com (Pass) and others have registered a dip of 1 to 2 per cent from the first cut-off list, some courses in the Humanities stream have witnessed a fall of 3 to 4 per cent.

The B.Com (Pass) course is still open at Gargi College at 84-86 per cent, Dyal Singh 80-85 per cent, Janki Devi Memorial College 80-82 per cent, Jesus and Mary College 87.50 per cent, Kalindi 75 per cent, Kirori Mal 88-88.25 per cent, Ramjas 85.5 to 91.5 per cent and Sri Venkateswara 87per cent.

The B.Com (Honours) course is still open at Gargi at 88-90 per cent, Dyal Singh College 80.5-85.5 per cent, Hans Raj 91.25 to 95.25 per cent, Jesus and Mary College 88.75 per cent, Kamala Nehru 86-91 per cent, Lady Shri Ram College 91.75 per cent and Sri Venkateswara 85.75 per cent.

Slowly gaining in popularity, the English (Honours) course is still open at Deshbandhu College at 70 per cent, I.P. College 70-89 per cent, Jesus and Mary College 88 per cent, Kirori Mal College 79-87 per cent, Maitreyi College 80.5-81 per cent and Miranda House 79-85 per cent.

While admission to Maths (Honours) has been closed in A.R.S.D., Hans Raj and Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sri Venkateswara has witnessed a spectacular fall of almost 4 per cent. The course is still open in colleges like Deshbandhu at 65 per cent, Dyal Singh 66.5 per cent, Hindu College 89 per cent, Lady Shri Ram 87 per cent and Ramjas 85 per cent.

In the second list, admission to Political Science (Honours) course is still open in Hindu College at 82-90 per cent, Jesus and Mary 79 per cent, Kirori Mal 82-87 per cent, Lady Shri Ram 84.50 per cent and Sri Venkateswara 79-83 per cent.

"We have reduced the percentage for Political Science from 85-90 per cent in the first list to 82-87 per cent in the second list. It was too high in the first list and we barely got any admissions,'' said an official of Kirori Mal College. The percentage for History and Political Science has been reduced in Lady Shri Ram College by more than 2 per cent as well.

For B.Sc (Honours) courses, the drop ranges from 0.5 to 2 per cent in most colleges. B.Sc (Honours) Statistics is still open in Hindu at 85 per cent, Lady Shri Ram 86.25 per cent and Sri Venkateswara 83.75 per cent.

Admission for Physics (Honours) is still open in Gargi College at 79.33 per cent, Hans Raj 86.33 per cent, Maitreyi College 76 per cent, Miranda House 79.67 per cent and Sri Venkateswara 88 per cent. The percentage ranges form 45 to 50 in most colleges.

For the new B.A. Course, admissions are still open at most colleges with the dip in percentage ranging from 1 to 2 per cent in most cases. Admissions are still open in Gargi College at 76.5 per cent, Deshbandhu College 67-69 per cent, Dyal Singh 68 per cent, Hans Raj 77-84 per cent, Hindu College 84.5 per cent, Miranda House 76 per cent and Maitreyi College 73-83 per cent.
