TIRUCHI, JULY 1. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced Direct Internet Access Service at the Main Guard Gate, Tiruverambur, 5ESS, and Cantonment exchanges according to a release from S. Ramalingam, Principal General Manager, BSNL, Tiruchi. The service provides round-the-clock Internet connections and enables subscribers to receive and make telephone calls without disconnecting from the Internet. There will be no telephone charges or port charges for the Internet usage. However the service is available only to subscribers within a radius of 3.5 km of the respective exchanges. Each exchange will provide the service to 30 subscribers. Separate bills will be drawn in addition to the subscribers' telephone bill. Subscribers can choose from three plans with monthly rentals of Rs. 850, Rs. 1,800 and Rs. 5,500. The activation charges for Plan-I is Rs. 2,000, and Rs. 3,000 for Plan-II and III. Plan-I subscribers will be allowed free Internet usage upto 0.5 gb, while Plan-II subscribers can use upto 1.5 gb a month. Additional usage will attract a charge of Rs. 120 and Rs. 100 for each 100 mb under Plan-I and Plan-II respectively. Plan-III subscribers are allowed unlimited free usage.
