UDUMALPET, JULY 2. The personnel of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary, Top Slip near Pollachi conducted a raid against ganja cultivations in the Amaravathy range near Udumalpet and have destroyed Rs. 9.48 lakhs worth of ganja. On directions of the Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore Circle, T. Sekar, and the Wildlife Warden, V. Ganesan, a special crackdown was organised against ganja cultivations. The teams raided the North Eastern slope in the V cut hills coming under the Manjampatti area abutting Kodaikanal hills along the Kerala border and destroyed 2,370 ganja plants which was cultivated in about four hectares. The teams suspect the hands of Ganja cultivators from Idukki district in Kerala.
