Marginal fall in inflation
NEW DELHI,
JULY 2.
Notwithstanding an increase in prices of cooking gas, petrol and diesel, the rate of inflation fell marginally to 5.87 per cent during the week ended June 19. After rising continuously for the last five weeks, the wholesale price index (WPI) inflation was down by 0.2 percentage point to 5.87 per cent even as prices surged for LPG by 8 per cent, petrol by 6 per cent and diesel by 3 per cent. The general price level was 5.21 per cent a year ago.
