Jobs galore in pharma

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, JULY 2. Pharmaceutical industry, the fastest growing one in the country, offers a wide range of employment opportunities for students taking up B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy courses.

Speaking at the pre-counselling programme for EAMCET aspirants organised by The Hindu here on Friday, M. Rajendra Babu, principal of Bapatla College of Pharmacy, said those pursuing pharma courses have options as pharmacists, production managers, chemists and drug analysts. The State and Central Governments also offer employment as analysts, drug inspectors and drug controllers.

There are about 50 pharmacy colleges, which has an intake capacity of 2,650 seats, he informed.

The annual growth of the pharma industry in India is around 20 per cent and Andhra Pradesh is considered to be the bulk drug capital of the country. Hence employment opportunities for pharma graduates are far better in the State than elsewhere in the country, he said.
