Land survey at Nandikur stopped

By Our Staff Correspondent

UDUPI, JULY 2. The Deputy Commissioner, S.R. Umashankar, on Thursday said that the district administration had stopped the land survey work at Nandikur near Padubidri.

Addressing presspersons, he said that the district administration was waiting for the orders of the Government on the land survey.

The Nagarjuna Power Corporation (NPC) was expected to set up a coal-based thermal power plant at Nandikur.

Yakshagana artistes: On the controversy over the discrimination against Yakshagana artistes on the grounds of caste at the Mandarti Temple in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that he was trying to resolve the issue.

He had told the Governing Board of the temple not to discriminate against artistes on caste grounds.

The Department of Endowments had already sent a report to the Government in this regard, he said.
