COIMBATORE, JULY 2 . In a special drive organised by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in association with the City Corporation, 100 goats that strayed onto the city roads were confiscated. The owners were asked to pay a fine of Rs. 110 for getting their goats back. On directions from the Collector and president of the SPCA, S. Kosalaraman, the Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, T.N. Palanivelu (secretary of SPCA) had organised a special drive against stray cattle menace. Three teams were formed by the SPCA authorities with manpower and transport provided by the Corporation. The teams led by K.S. James Durairaj, Chief Inspector and Inspector K.P. Chinnasamy began the drive in Pappanaickenpalayam, Puliakulam, Rathnapuri, Thayir Itteri and on Sanganur Roads.
