KOCHI, JULY 2. An attempt was made to break into the house of Subaida, the daughter of the Union Minister for Power, P.M. Sayeed, at SRM road here on Thursday night. The police said that the residents heard a sound from the terrace after they went to sleep, but failed to find anything wrong. It was found in the morning that the door to the terrace was forced open. Nothing was reported to be stolen from the house, though. A mobile phone was reportedly stolen from the office functioning on the top of a house next door, the police said.
Robbery attempt
An attempt was made to rob Rs. 8 lakhs from two treasury officials in broad daylight at Paravur here today. The incident occurred at 11 a.m. According to the police, Damodaran, cashier along with peon, Subramanian from the State Treasury had withdrawn the amount from the State Bank of Travancore, Paravur. A person tried to snatch the bag containing the money when they came out of the bank, but he was unsuccessful. At the same time, another person tried to stop them by pulling out a gun-like contraption, believed to be an air pistol. They escaped in a motorbike driven by a third person.
Found dead
Amminikuttan (40) of Kurlad Colony, Edathala was found dead in a water-filled paddy field at 6 a.m. today. As there were no signs of violence on the body, the police have assumed the deceased might have fallen to death in an inebriated condition. In another incident, Sanija (22) of Aluva was found dead in the well at her residence on Friday.
