HYDERABAD, JULY 2. The MIM floor leader in the Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi, on Friday projected the police in poor light by contrasting its handling of the case involving actor Balakrishna, who, he alleged, had shot at a film producer and an astrologer, and in arresting a student, Abu Ayub Ansari, who was earlier found innocent of his involvement in ISI activities. While, Mr. Owaisi pointed out, the film star was able to secure bail, despite shooting the duo with his wife's revolver, Ansari was cooling his heels in the police lock-up. Contrary to the Government's promise, a case under POTA was slapped on him, he complained in the Assembly participating in the Budget debate. "This showed that the same rule of law does not apply to two persons", the MIM leader asserted.
