Tension continues

GUWAHATI, JULY 3. The Assam Health Minister, Bhumidhar Burman, and the Home Minister, Rockeybull Hussain, today visited the violence-torn Assam-Nagaland border.

Official sources said the situation in the Dhansiri Reserve Forest area, where the stand-off continued between the Assam police and Naga militants, remained tense though there was no fresh report of violence.

Assam had sought the Centre's intervention to remove the NSCN(I-M) camps from the forest while the Army has taken position on the volatile border.
