COIMBATORE, JULY 3. Archies, the gifting and greeting cards company, has set a target of 15 per cent jump in its profit for the current financial year, said Jagdish Moolchandani, Executive Director of Archies Limited. Talking to mediapersons here on Friday after inaugurating the 41st company owned outlet, he said the turnover of the company was Rs. 70 crores for the year ended March 2004. "Production is centralised in New Delhi with a capacity of 2.5 lakh greeting cards a day," he added. Archies commands a 50 per cent market share in the organised sector and has plans to unveil 100 more company-managed outlets in the next three years. Answering to a query on competition from e-cards, he said `e-card fad' was over and now the major threat was from SMS. "But the messages are received and erased immediately, so there is no human value attached to it," he added. Archies had conducted a survey in New Delhi on a tie-up with agencies and it was found that the `art of sending greeting cards' was on a comeback trend. "People wanted to add a human touch to their effort."
