COIMBATORE, JULY 3. The Coimbatore Rural Police have solved six cases of dacoity and a murder for gain case reported in Avanashi and Tirupur areas during May and June. The special police teams led by the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, R. Dhinakaran and the Deputy Superintendents of Police, P. Murugesan (Avanashi) and S. Maheswaran (Tirupur), arrested the accused and recovered the stolen property. One of the special teams probed the dacoities reported at farm houses and those located at Nettakattipalayam, Kasigoundenpudur village, Kamanaickenpalayam, Eripalayam and Koilpalayam villages. In these incidents, nearly 30 sovereigns of jewellery were stolen. They arrested Jagannathan (20) of Gudalur, Manikandan (23) of Tiruchi and Ganesan (20) of Palani and recovered 29 sovereigns from various jewellery shops at Palakkad in Kerala, where the accused disposed of this jewellery.Similarly, the special team, which probed a case of murder for gain, arrested five persons. They had murdered Thangavel of Kodaikanal, who was working as a watchman in a yarn godown at Sarvodaya Sangh building on Palladam Road in Tirupur, before looting yarn worth Rs 1.5 lakhs on June 22. The main accused in the case Perumal was earlier working as a watchman and was removed from service on charges of theft.
