Two farmers end lives

JULY 3.
A farmer, B. M. Narayana, 50, of Chelimella village in Pamulapadu mandal of Kurnool district, committed suicide by hanging himself on Saturday. According to reports, Narayana suffered heavy losses in mulberry cultivation. He had borrowed Rs 1.60 lakhs and could not repay the money.

He consumed pesticide on Friday evening and was rushed to the Government Area Hospital at Kadiri, where he succumbed on Saturday. The farmer has two acres and cultivated sunflower. Erratic power supply had damaged his pumpset thrice of late. A lender, to whom the farmer owed Rs. 50,000 had moved a court recently.
