ANANTAPUR, JULY 3. A helper working for the AP Transco sub-station at Penna Ahobilam balancing reservoir, Yerriswamy (40), was hacked to death near Aravakur in Kudair mandal on Saturday, allegedly by relatives of his first wife. According to the police, Yerriswamy had married one Laxmidevi first and she died 13 years ago after giving birth to a son. Later, he married Susheelamma. The son of his first wife is with his maternal uncles. The brothers of Yerriswamy's first wife had reportedly approached Susheelamma, saying she would get pensionary benefits and Laxmidevi's son a job on compassionate grounds if she helped eliminate Yerriswamy. But, Susheelamma spurned the offer and complained the matter to the police. The police summoned the brothers of Laxmidevi and warned them. Last night, the brothers of Laxmidevi allegedly took away Yerriswamy and hacked him to death. His body was found near Aravakur.
