Andhra varsity scraps detention system
By Our Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM,
JULY 3.
Andhra University has decided not to implement the detention system it introduced from this academic year in all its post-graduate and graduate courses.
The Vice-Chancellor, Y.C. Simhadri, issued orders removing the detention system with immediate effect, according to the official spokesman of the university.
The decision to scrap the detention system was taken following representations by the Affiliated Colleges Managements Association, and was intimated just three days after the new academic year commenced.
This was one of the measures Prof. Simhadri had taken in the recent past in the face of the stepped-up agitation against him.
