KOCHI, JULY 3. The Minister for the Welfare of the Backward and Scheduled Communities, M.A.Kuttappan, distributed gold medals to Anglo Indian students who topped SSLC examinations, at a function held here today. The programme was organised by the MLA representing the Anglo Indians, Ludi Luiz. Distributing the medals, the minister said education has an invaluable role in the life of a person. The very term intellectual property denoted the significance of education and intellect, he said. Mr. Luiz described the Anglo Indians as a microscopic minority. The majority among the community were poor. It had lost some of the privileges enjoyed by it earlier and they should be restored, he said. Dominique Presentation, K.Babu, P.T.Thomas, MLAs, K.B.Muhammadkutty Master, Ernakulam Panchayat president, K.P.Dhanapalan, DCC president, K.Benny Behanan, Congress leader, were among those present.
