Alappuzha
By Our Staff Reporter
ALAPPUZHA, JULY 3. The Alappuzha district panchayat would take steps to encourage farmers to cultivate paddy in those fields of Kuttanad which are lying barren because of various reasons. This was stated by the Alappuzha district panchayat president, K. H. Babujan, at a meet-the-press programme here today. Mr. Babujan said the district panchayat wanted to give emphasis to the development of the agricultural sector while planning development projects. He recalled that the district panchayat had successfully implemented a project the previous year to revive agricultural activities at Ullitta fields near Evoor which had been lying barren for several years.
