JAIPUR, JULY 3. J. Agnishwar of Tamil Nadu challenged the supremacy of swimmers from Karnataka and Maharashtra by winning the 200m breaststroke with a record timing of 2.38.11 in the national junior aquatics championship on Saturday which saw thirteen new marks being set on the fourth day of the competition. V. Sivaranjini led Karnataka's charge by claiming two gold medals with new records. Sivaranjini bettered her own record in the girls' group I 1500m freestyle clocking 18:58.30 and then raced to another new mark in 200m breaststroke. Aarti Ghorpade and Ruckshen Palia, both of Maharashtra, made a dent in Karnataka's domination by claiming yellow metals with new records. Aarti rewrote the record books in the girls' Group II 800m freestyle with a timing of 10.04.43 while Ruckshen won gold in 200m butterfly. Rohit Hawaldar and Arjun Murlidharan continued their good showing setting new marks in the competition. The fourth day saw Karnataka winning nine gold, five silver and four bronze to make steady progress towards claiming the title. It is now at the top of the medal tally with 37 gold. PTI
