Crime Watch

Cash stolen

Robbers broke open the locks of seven shops and fled with Rs. 18,00 cash and a few liquor bottles under the Uppal police station limits in the small hours of Saturday. The shops are located at Hema Nagar.

The Uppal police registered a case and took up investigation.

Van torched

Miscreants burnt the Maruti van belonging to an engineer, G. Reddy, at his parking lot at Mahindra Hills under the Tukaramgate police station limits on Friday night.

It is learnt that Mr. Reddy had taken a loan of about Rs. 12 lakhs from one person. However, Mr. Reddy did not repay the amount. He told the police that he had received several threatening calls during the last few days. The CLUES team was pressed into service. A case has been registered.

Suspicious death

Nineteen-year-old S. Manoja of Kaladera Colony in old Malakpet, who allegedly consumed poison on Friday afternoon, died the same night while undergoing treatment at Osmania Hospital.

She was the wife of Srinivas. The couple were married one year ago. It was alleged that Manoja's in-laws were harassing her for additional dowry.

The Chaderghat police registered a case of suspicious death.

Air-conditioner stolen?

Some persons reportedly stole a 1.5 ton split Bluestar air-conditioner from the newly constructed Police Intelligence wing office at Lakdi-Ka-Pul between June 30 and July 2. A complaint was lodged by a senior police officer with the Saifabad police on Friday.

The air-conditioner went missing from a cabin on the third floor of plush complex.

Succumbs

to burns

K Srilakshmi (22) of Bansilalpet who reportedly set herself afire on June 30, died on Friday night while undergoing treatment. She was the wife of Sainath. They were married about three years ago. It was alleged that her in-laws were harassing her for more dowry.

Unable to bear the harassment, she resorted to the extreme step.

Gandhinagar police are investigating.

Dies in

suicide pact

Forty-six-year old Mary Stella of Premnagar in Khairtabad, who along with her two daughters entered into a suicide pact on July 1, died on Saturday, while undergoing treatment at a private Hospital.

It is learnt that she along with her daughters - Clara John and Mary John - reportedly consumed poison. Mary Stella was the wife of John. The police said that they entered into the suicide pact following financial problems.

The condition of Clara and Mary John is stated to be stable.

The Punjagutta police registered a case and are investigating.
