BANGALORE, JULY 3. A three-member gang stabbed an arrack shop employee and robbed him of Rs. 300 in Cubbon Park police station limits on Friday night. The police said around 11 p.m., the robbers waylaid Kodandarama, who is employed in an arrack shop in Shivajinagar, on Museum Road when he was going home in Jayanagar. They stabbed him in the abdomen and relieved him of the cash. The police have registered a case.
Body found
The body of a man aged around 30 was found in a BWSSB manhole on 4th Main, Rajarajeshwarinagar on Thursday. The police said the assailants had dumped the body in the manhole after murdering the man whose identity is not known. The Kengeri police have registered a case.
Two killed
Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Friday. N. Kumar (25) of Basappa Layout in Hanumanthanagar was injured when an autorickshaw hit his motorcycle on Bull Temple Road around 6.45 p.m. Kumar died on the way to hospital. The Basavanagudi police seized the autorickshaw and arrested the driver. In another incident, Mohan Singh (48) of Kilari Road was injured when a vehicle hit his scooter on Guttahalli Main Road in Sadashivanagar police station limits around midnight. He died on the way to hospital. The Vyalikaval traffic police have registered a case.
Arrested
The Hanumanthanagar police on Thursday arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in 19 cases of theft and recovered from them gold ornaments, silver articles, and electronic goods, together worth Rs.1.60 lakh. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Venkatesh alias Aasai Thambi (25) and Vijay Govind (23) of Tamil Nadu. The R.T. Nagar police on Friday arrested Nihal (20) of Muslim Colony in Devarajeevanahalli and recovered from him two two-wheelers and six car stereos, together worth Rs. 1.20 lakh. The police said the accused was involved in vehicle and car stereo thefts in J.C. Nagar, Devarajeevanahalli, Frazer Town, and Kalasipalyam police station limits. The police arrested Nihal when he was allegedly trying to sell a stolen vehicle at Thimmaiah Garden in R.T. Nagar. The High Grounds police on Friday arrested David Ebenezer (27) of Hebbal who had allegedly stolen a credit card and purchased electronic gadgets worth Rs.1.13 lakh by using it. The police said S. Ravi of Chikkalasandra had forgot to collect his credit card from Standard Chartered Bank's ATM on Cunningham Road on June 21and Ebenezer had stolen it. The police seized articles worth Rs. 48,000 from the accused. The City Crime Branch (CCB) officials arrested four persons who were allegedly planning to rob a Tamil Nadu businessman of cash and gold ornaments in Kalasipalayam police station limits on June 28. The police recovered from them Rs. 25,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 10,000.
