Right on the `mark', says Lok Satta

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR, JULY 4. Acharya Nagarjuna University on Saturday issued the revaluated marks of 4,756 students on Saturday of whom 2,258 passed with good marks exposing the carelessness of in the valuation process, the Lok Satta said in a release.

The (by the university) marks obtained by the four students, whose answer sheets were publicly revalued by the Lok Satta on June 9, were found to be close to those awarded by the lecturers in the presence of mediapersons, said the Lok Satta secretary, Konda Sivarami Reddy.

The student (hall ticket No. Y-21150027), who was originally awarded a zero, secured 65 marks in the public valuation and 68 in the ANU revaluation. In the case of another student (HT No.Y-21150009) while the original marks were 16, the student secured 73 marks, while the ANU awarded 71 in the revaluation.

In the case of HT No.Y-21150026 while the original marks awarded were 24, they went up to 82 at the public valuation and 86 in the ANU revaluation. In the case of Mathematics paper of Y-33028478, the student was awarded 57 out of 150 originally, post-revaluation the student got 129 marks, and 128 by ANU, Mr. Reddy said.

The ANU Vice-Chancellor, L. Venugopala Reddy, had said in a statement last month that the four students had barely managed to secure pass marks, but the revaluation result proved otherwise, Mr. Reddy said. He requested the Vice-Chancellor to expedite the inquiry by the committee set up by him to go into the valuation process and take action against those who had committed such mistakes.

He sought to know who would take the responsibility for the mental agony caused to the students due to the fault of the valuers.
