VISAKHAPATNAM, JULY 4. The district Collector, Praveen Prakash, stressed the need to achieve 100 per cent success in immunisation of children in the age group of 0-5 years against polio. He was inaugurating the pulse polio camp at Madhurawada here today. Following detection of a polio case in Srikakulam district, it was decided to conduct a special immunisation camp in 10 districts today, he said. In all, 4,70,940 children are being immunised in the district. The district administration has arranged 4,000 two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles for a door-to-door campaign and to cover children left out of the camp in Visakhapatnam and Gajuwaka in the next four days. Saying that the Government was spending Rs. 6 per dose on the vaccine, he appealed to the people to make the immunisation programme a success. Children in the district were immunised in pulse polio programme on May 9 last. The programme would be conducted on August 22, October 10 and November 21 as mop up operation.
