Cloudy day, rain possible
The maximum and minimum temperature on Sunday at Safdarjung was 37.2 and 24.8 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperature was 37.2 and 27.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 86 and 82 per cent respectively while the minimum was 41 and 33 per cent respectively.
Chain snatchers nabbed
During a routine-check exercise, the Punjabi Bagh police spotted a criminal, Praveen Kumar Bansal, riding a motorcycle and intercepted him. During his personal search, they recovered a polythene pouch containing 15 gm smack. During interrogation, he disclosed that he was into snatching mobile phones, gold chains and other articles, along with his accomplices, Balwant Singh, Himanshu, Ravi Kishan and others. At his instance, the police arrested Balwant, Himanshu and Ravi. Investigations revealed that they were involved in at least 30 cases of snatching.
Contract killer arrested
The accused, Dheeraj Gupta, disclosed that his gang members had been arrested at Gaya in Bihar and were presently in judicial custody. To evade detection, he fled to Delhi around eight months ago and was living here in a rented accommodation at Adarsh Nagar. He has been booked under the Arms Act and the Gaya police informed about his arrested.
Carjackers held
A police team on a routine check stopped a Maruti Zen for checking documents. The occupants could not produce the papers, upon which they were questioned. During interrogation, they broke down and confessed to their involvement in carjacking cases. The accused were identified as Mustkeen, Ravi and Raju. They had robbed a man of the Maruti Zen at gunpoint at Preet Vihar on the June 13 night. On April 6, they had allegedly tried to rob a businessman of his vehicle after opening fire at him at Rajouri Garden.
Booked
The accused was identified as Mukesh. He disclosed that he abducted the victim from Nangla Machi area falling under the jurisdiction of Tilak Marg police station. Mukesh allegedly criminally assaulted her and took her, while she was in an unconscious state, to Shanti Van jungle area where a police personnel with the Darya Ganj police station spotted him, overpowered him and handed him over to the local police.
