dated July 06, 1954: Lignite at Neiveli

Blueprints for full-scale commercial exploitation of lignite at Neiveli are now under preparation by the British mining engineering firm whose officials are now engaged in the preparatory work at Neiveli. The pilot project, now under advanced progress, has established the commercial possibilities of lignite mining, in addition to the scope for utilising a variety of bye-products. The consulting engineers will shortly be sending specialists to prepare plans on different aspects of the mining and these will be collated into the final blueprint.
