Three declared joint winners

HYDERABAD, JULY 5 . J. Sai Kiran, K. Sampath Kumar and P. Koushik were declared joint winners in the open category of the 27th Sunday chess tournament organised by the Chess Academy of Andhra Pradesh here on Sunday. The trio finished with five points after five rounds of play. P. Mahathi with four points was declared winner in the girls category.

The important results of the fifth round: J. Sai Kiran (5) bt S. Vishal (4); K. Sampath Kumar (5) bt A. Paveen Kumar (4); P. Koushik Chandra (5) bt B.S.V. Ramana (3); P. Mahathi (4) bt M. Mahesh (3); S. Abhilash (4) bt B. Rohit (3).

Age group winners: Boys: Under seven: Y. Sai Akshay; Under nine: G.V.N. Pavan; Under 11: K. Vikram and G. Rahul (joint winners); Under 13: S. Abhilash and Gopi Krishna (joint winners); Under 20: A. Praveen Kumar.

Girls: Under seven: Y. Roopali Kiron; Under nine: K. Swetha and K. Yamini (joint winners); Under 11: Y. Anugnya.

Special prize winners: M. Abhilash Reddy , P. Vikas Chandra, S. Vishal, P. Balaji, D. Radha Krishna, V. Pradeep, D. Sahit Reddy, Sai Sankar, G. Sai Krishna, V. Sandeep, K. Tarun Kumar, P. Srinvas, G. Balachander and Nishanth.
