Yamaha Motor India today introduced 125cc bike Fazer in the domestic market with a price tag of Rs. 43,990 and said it planned to foray into the scooter segment next year, besides investing Rs. 400 crores over three years. The company aims to sell around 40,000 Fazer, which comes with a BS carburetor equipped with Yamaha throttle position sensor, by the year-end, Yamaha Executive Vice President, A. V. Srinivasan, said after the launch of Fazer here. "We have undertaken a feasibility study to launch scooters in the Indian market and would take a decision on our scooter strategy once the findings of the study are out by December this year," said Yamaha India CEO and Managing Director, Hiroyuki Yanagi. Yamaha is a leading scooter-maker in Europe. Admitting that many of the products launched so far have not been strong enough and successful, Mr. Yanagi said, "We are now strengthening Indian research and development and adopting a new product strategy, which will be driven by the Yamaha core values of sporty, stylish and innovative."
