JAIPUR, JULY 5. Several programmes to be organised in Jaipur and district headquarters in Rajasthan on July 11 will mark World Population Day with emphasis on generating mass awareness about family welfare and population control measures. The State-level function will be organised in B.M. Birla Auditorium here for distribution of prizes to the institutions working in the field. The Director of Family Welfare, R.S. Gathala, said here today that a rally would be organised in the city on the occasion in association with Nehru Yuva Sangathan. Over 2,000 students will carry banners and placards with messages on family welfare in the rally. The programmes at the district headquarters will be attended by the Collectors and senior officials and the Jan Mangal and Anganwadi workers would be rewarded for their contribution to family welfare during the previous year. Dr. Gathala said cash prizes of Rs. 500 each would be given to these workers. Besides, the District Education Officers and the District Literacy Committees will organise various programmes, such as debate, essay writing and painting competitions in the selected schools and continuing education centres. Dr. Gathala said these competitions would continue till July 20 next. The Women and Child Development Department will also organise seminars and contests on the issues relating to birth control, healthcare of women and the newborn and women's empowerment in association with the self-help groups.
